Dr. Josh Hawson

Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist | MBBS, RACP

Dr Joshua Hawson is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart Private Hospital, and Calvary Private Hospital. He completed his medical degree at UTAS before completing basic physician training at The Alfred and advanced training in cardiology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Following completion of his advanced cardiology training, Dr Hawson has completed a further four years of fellowship in electrophysiology, including three at the Royal Melbourne Hospital under the tutelage of global leaders in the field, such as Prof Jonathan Kalman, Prof Peter Kistler and Prof Geoffrey Lee. During this time, he completed a PhD through the University of Melbourne in heart rhythm management, with a focus on ventricular arrhythmias. He has authored and co-authored dozens of articles in high-ranking international journals.

In addition to general cardiology, Dr Hawson has expertise in heart rhythm management, including cardiac ablation and insertion of implantable cardiac devices. He works closely with colleagues in Melbourne to manage patients with complex conditions and facilitate interstate referral if needed.
